Geocaching

We took my visiting parents geocaching. It was fun and I think they enjoyed it. We found a cache that had stumped us previously and there it was right in front of us the whole time we had been looking, and it still took about 30 minutes the second attempt.

We noticed this while we were looking. I guess someone made a typo - or would that be a chisel-o?

Niagara Falls

I love Niagara Falls. In the 18 years since I first saw it I have never tired of it's power. The roar alone is so fierce. Personally I prefer the Falls in winter when there's ice everywhere but in summer it is glorious and the mist is refreshing on a hot day such as today. Many people visiting the Falls take pictures of the whole view...

I feel so lucky to live practically next door to a place that many people dream of being able to visit.

A day without water

At 8:30 this morning we received notice that our water would be shut off today from 9-5. We tried the water right away and it was already only a trickle and after flushing, the toilet tank did not fill so we were not able to stockpile any tap water. We drink bottled water from those bog containers that attach to a cooler so we were ok there but nothing for washing hands, showering, or flushing the toilet - until we realized we hadn't emptied the tub after T2's bath last night. All day we have flushed with scented bubbly water which we were thankful for but being unable to wash hands drove me crazy - hand sanitizer just didn't seem enough. Five o'clock came and went and still no water but then trucks began to congregate at the end of the court where we live. The worker crew had been working on the mains a block away all day but what needed to be done to complete the work was to run the fire hydrant at full flow two hours away for two hours and counting.

Grandma thought it looked like fun hence.....
